Biography
I practice predominantly in commercial litigation (including class actions) and civil regulatory investigations and proceedings (concerning the Corporations Act, ASIC Act and CCA).
My practice spans Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
I started my career at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office in the criminal law practice group, before spending about 10 years in commercial practice at the international law firm, Allen & Overy LLP.
My experience highlights include acting for:
- 
- JP Morgan (the global investment bank) in a multi-party class action alleging cartel conduct in the FX market – [2021] FCA 36 and ongoing;
 - three company directors in a multi-party shareholder class action – [2021] FCA 829;
 - an executive director of Rio Tinto Limited in multi-party civil penalty proceedings brought by ASIC – (No 2) [2022] FCA 184 and [2020] FCA 1721;
 - BHP Limited in a shareholder class action arising from the Fundao dam collapse (VID649/2018) – ongoing;
 - ASIC in civil penalty proceedings against Westpac Banking Corporation – [2022] FCA 515;
 - ASIC in civil penalty proceedings against Firstmac Limited, being one of the first cases regarding the Design and Distribution Obligations in the Corporations Act – [2024] FCA 737 and [2025] FCA 12;
 - JP Morgan (the global investment bank), as an interested party, in relation to civil penalty proceedings ASIC v COFCO International Australia and Anor (VID720/2024);
 - ASIC in civil penalty proceedings against ASX Limited – ongoing;
 - a financial planner and his related authorised practice in a claim against AMP Financial Planning Pty Limited (NSD1090/2023) – ongoing;
 - the CDPP in a criminal cartel prosecution – CDPP v CFMMEU & Anor;
 - both ASIC and persons the subject of investigation in respect of various confidential ASIC investigations;
 - financial planners in relation to ASIC banning orders;
 - a respondent to an application by ASIC for urgent interim travel restraints – ASIC v Nicholas & Anor; and
 - Court appointed receivers resisting the setting aside of a bankruptcy notice.
