Biography

Kate has a broad practice and accepts briefs in a wide range of public and private law matters.  She specialises in administrative and public law, inquests and inquiries, human rights and discrimination, professional negligence (including clinical/medical negligence), class actions, disciplinary and regulatory proceedings and all aspects of health law including mental health and guardianship.

Kate has over a decade’s experience at the Bar of England and Wales, where she was recognised as a leading junior.

Kate has significant experience in the coronial jurisdiction and appears as counsel assisting and on behalf of interested persons in inquests, inquiries and independent reviews.  She gained extensive experience with the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability and previously appeared as counsel assisting and for interested persons in a number of public inquiries in the UK, including the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.

Kate is a member of the Human Rights Committee of the NSW Bar Association and has been appointed to the Department of Communities and Justice Legal Services Panel.

Kate graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours and University Medal).
