Vanessa Thomas SC

Vanessa was admitted to the bar in May 2009 following a 20 year career as a solicitor which began at Mallesons Stephen Jacques (now King & Wood Mallesons) in Sydney and continued in Hong Kong, practising in commercial litigation and arbitration. Vanessa spent 10 years in Mallesons Hong Kong office, and was appointed a partner in 1997.

From 2002 to 2008, Vanessa practised at Blake Dawson (now Ashurst), in commercial litigation (in particular in a series of significant claims arising out of the collapse of HIH).

Vanessa appears regularly in the NSW Supreme Court, the NSW District Court, the Federal Court and the ACT Supreme Court, including the ACT Court of Appeal. She has a broad practice that includes commercial, equity, professional negligence and class action matters.
